Fashion Basics

I am not what would generally be considered to be fashionable. I don’t keep up on trends, and I’ve never bought couture. I haven’t figured out how anyone manages a capsule wardrobe (although I do find the idea intriguing). And the latest runway looks are, to me, puzzling.

Nonetheless, I do manage to look quite presentable and have even come up with a few outfits that others seem to like. Here are my personal fashion rules:

  • Always obey the “3 Bs” rule – nobody should be able to see your butt, belly, or boobs (although some cleavage is OK)
  • If I’m gonna wear it, it has to FIT. Nothing saggy or sloppy. No pinching or gaping. No worrying about something popping out of my clothing.
  • When I wear something, I like to FEEL FABULOUS. No frumpy clothing for me. I can feel great in jeans and a t-shirt… as long as they’re clean and don’t look like I’ve slept in them.
  • All my clothing must be FUNCTIONAL. There is no point having clothing I’ll never wear. And it’s awkward to wear an outfit that isn’t suited to the occasion. Have you ever tried running in heels?

That’s it… 3 Bs and 3 Fs. (It sounds a bit like a report card, doesn’t it?)

What are your fashion do’s and don’ts?
