What’s stopping you?

Now that you’ve admitted what you really want (not just the stuff that society or your mom or whoever says it’s OK for you to want), the fun begins. Well, perhaps not fun-fun, but this prompt is where we really start looking at what’s holding you back.

Some things that came up for me when I did this are “It’s greedy to want that much money.” “Women my age don’t get to look like that, and if they do it’s because they have personal trainers and dieticians and lots of time to work out and plan their meals. Or they were smart enough to take better care of themselves all along and I didn’t do that.” “Anyway, I’ve waited too long and I’m too old.”

These are all falsehoods that have been holding me back. It is not greedy to want to be comfortable, give to my family and charity, or to have a nice vehicle and clothes. There are many women over 50 who look amazing and beautiful without living at the gym and on salads, and many of them are looking younger than they used to. And who says I’m too old to have a dream???

Once you’ve written down the things holding you back, write something like this below: “I’m willing to see things differently. Help me to see things differently.” And then write down a new, more positive and affirming belief that you want to hold. “I CHOOSE TO BELIEVE ____________.”
