If you weren’t following the “rules” about what what you can and should do, what would you do?

Where do our rules about what we can do and what we should do come from? Many times, we grew up with them… the whole “nice girls do ___________ and they never _____________”. But what if these rules go against your nature?

Now, those rules were put in place for a reason. They teach us how to function in society. They teach us about people’s expectations. However, are they always valid? No. Do they have merit? Possibly. To an extent. But many of the rules we learned are based on what society wants and expects from women, and they have changed and evolved (and in some cases devolved) over time. For example, it’s only been 104 years since women were “granted the right” to vote. Before that, we could only influence politics by influencing our husbands’ votes. Now women hold office. The rules change. However, they don’t change until someone notices something wrong and changes them for herself and then others.

What rules are you following in your life? Which ones do you need to break to be more you? And remember, I am here for you. Please comment below or contact me to schedule your personalized one-on-one introductory coaching session.
