Have you ever sat down and thought about your priorities? I recommend that you do. Pick your top three. Figure out what the three most important things are that you want to work on. Then base your decisions about what you do and don’t do based on whether it moves the needle on these.
Once you have done this, it makes it a lot easier to say “no” to those things you don’t really want to do. “I’m sorry, but I won’t be able to help with that – it takes time away from my family.” “I’m afraid that my schedule doesn’t permit me to commit to that.”
I do recommend that you make yourself one of your top priorities. It’s not as selfish as it seems. When you make time to focus on yourself, you can recharge and be more available for your other two priorities. And since when is personal growth bad? You won’t have that if you don’t make time for it (also known as making yourself a priority).
