Do you remember being a child? The possibilities for what you could do were endless… until we learned to “be realistic”. Back then, you were going to be a doctor-ballerina-firefighter-cowgirl or some other “crazy” combination of careers that only a child could dream of.
Maybe you always dreamed of being a doctor. It’s never too late. Maybe it’s not be possible or practical to drop everything and go back to school full-time (or maybe you just don’t want to), but is there another way you could help people to feel better that doesn’t require a medical license?
The point isn’t that you should invest the next ten years of your life in getting a degree so you can pursue your childhood dreams (although there’s no reason you shouldn’t do that, if it’s what you really want). The point of this prompt is to remember your dreams and maybe come up with an alternate way to pursue them. Sure, they may not look the same anymore as they did to your 5 year old self. So what? Dreams grow and evolve and take on a life of their own when we let them…
