Would you pay $50 for a pair of children’s socks?

I love knitting. Today, I was at the doctor’s office and she noticed a pair that I was wearing. When I told her that I’d made them, she said that I was talented and should sell them. And I’d love to. So, the question for today… would you pay $50 to get the pair of wool/silk toddler socks shown? How about $100 for the same pair of women’s socks?

BTW, if the answer is yes, please contact me (direct email address is dangereuse@femmefataleover50.com) and we’ll discuss how I can make you a pair of socks custom-made for your feet. I also make similar socks in a lace pattern – see photo below.

For the do-it-yourselfers, I did post the pattern for the children’s socks here.

  1. I know my stepdaughter means it as a compliment but it shows her lack of knitting understanding that she keeps telling me I should sell my knit items. When I inform her of the cost of the yarn much less the time spent knitting it, she is speechless.

    1. Right?!? I used that as a very conservative estimate at about $10 per hour, which is nothing for the skill required. And that wasn’t even counting materials. It makes me sad to go to fundraisers and see handmade afghans selling for $20. I usually just tell people it’s a labor of love… and all the people I love get socks!
